H2H finished

The Hands2Help Charity Quilt is finished.

H2H front

A few more geese for the back. I found a great stripe in my stash for the binding.

H2H back

A meander for the quilting.

H2H close

I met with Kari and Sarah (and Lilli, too!) Tuesday to deliver the quilt for mailing. Sarah was instrumental in organizing this challenge so a big thanks to her for all her hard work! Follow the links to see more of the quilts that will be going to Romania.

Now we’re off to explore a little more of colorful Colorado with Ashley and the C. man! I love these guys!

Sarah has the Whoop Whoop party up! Check it out!

Ready to be a sandwich.

H2H top

The stained glass effect from the back is interesting.

I know your day wouldn’t be complete without more dyed fabrics!

batik 3

The squares were made with the end of a short piece of 2x2 wood dipped in the wax.

batik 1

The piece on the left has been through three different processes and will likely get a couple more layers. I’ve been experimenting with sodium alginate as a thickener and it may be used in the next application.

I really don’t know what I’m doing..

but I’m sure having a good time! One thing about dyeing fabric is that it’s not always predictable. None of these turned out the way I’d planned but I know why and that’s a good thing.

waxed diamonds

batik red

waxed zigzag

 batik black

waxed drops If you compare the pictures you’ll see that these batik marks are different because I dyed it a second time. I took P.’s advice and went literal!

batik blue drops

I’m kind of embarrassed to admit that I have yet to use any of these fabrics. I did send some to Terri and this is a sampling of what she made. She sent me the cute covered journal in the center!  Her blog and Etsy shop are definitely worth a visit.

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our old friend Sally last week.

22 years!

Her original name was Egon and her brothers were Peter Venkman (PV) and Slimer. Somehow the song “Lay Down Sally” influenced a name change. She was a good girl:)
