Wonky boxes

I finished piecing the top of Wonky Boxes. Does it need an additional border or is it finished? I’m leaning in the direction of adding something. Opinions are welcome!

wonky boxes

My portrait from the Say Cheese! challenge now has pink lips, a neck and some clothes. Now I need to add some thread details for dimension. It’s coming along!

  1. OK, at first I thought that it was perfect as is, but then I started looking at the picture carefully to be sure I didn't think so because it had a "border" in the pic. Then I was hit with a weird idea - in the pic, it has a white border on the right side and bottom. What if you did that with a fabric border? It kind of goes with the "wonkiness" of the quilt.... Just a random thought! Thanks for checking out my blog and I'll be sure to be checking out yours in the future! Waving back at you from Mt. Juliet!!

  2. I like it just as it is. :-) I love that diagonal fabric.

  3. I'm a fan of sashings to "frame" the quilt.
I'd make one, now, picking the colour to do it in is a bit of a challenge due to the colours already there, but white would be good, or would something totally differents like navy, black or chocolate colours pop the quilt?
    I love the wonkis..

  4. I love it! I think it's gorgeous as is, but a border would make it a little bigger. Maybe white and then scrappy using those bright colors. Love the progress on your Say Cheese project. It's amazing how much more it starts to look like you as you add those details.

  5. Wow, this turned out gorgeous! I love the framing you have now. If you want to make it bigger, you could add a white border and then maybe a scrappy border using the colors from the blocks. I love seeing the progress of your Say Cheese project too. It's amazing to see the transformation as you add those details.

  6. I vote yes to a border. I have a bad habit of getting lazy when It comes to borders but I'm always happy when I go for it. It's a beautiful quilt top.

  10. Really awesome! If someone had told me they could do a portrait quilt with polka dotted fabric, I never would have believed it! Very nice.
